Introduction to Medifund
Medifund helps needy Singapore citizens who cannot pay their medical bills.
It can be used to pay for restructured hospitals, national specialty centres, and intermediate and long-term care services.
How To Qualify
To qualify for Medifund, these are the criteria:
To get Medifund subsidies
- You must be a Singapore citizen
- You must be a subsidised patient
- You must have received treatment from a Medifund-approved institution
- You and your family must have difficulties affording the medical bill despite getting heavy subsidies, MediShield Life and Medisave
To get Medifund Silver subsidies
Besides meeting the criteria above, you must be 65 years or older.

How to Apply
Approach a Medical Social Worker
You can find a medical social worker at the hospital or institution your loved one is staying in for more information. This medical social worker will help you to apply for the subsidies.
If your application is successful, Medifund will cover your loved one’s medical bills. You can find out more about Medifund at the Ministry of Health’s website.
