The Community Care Traineeship programme (CCTP) adopts a Place and Train model designed to equip new local support care staff with the requisite skills to perform their new jobs. The CCTP course comprises three main components:
1. Classroom session at our institute learning laboratory: 12 working days
2. Practicum at a designated Community Care organisation: 5 working days
3. Workplace coaching: 9 weeks

  • Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR)
  • New support care staff whose job scope requires the provision of direct care to residents/clients through nursing/ therapy support
  • New staff must not be employed by any community care or acute organisation in similar work capacity within the last six months.
  • Have a regular work arrangement with their employing organisation (eg. through an employment contract)

New support care staff that assists in the provision of healthcare (nursing or therapy) services in the following Community Care settings:
• Nursing homes
• Day rehabilitation centres
• Dementia day care centres
• Psychiatric day care centres / Rehabilitation homes
• Home Care

Course syllabus for the 17-day course period is as follows:

6Demonstrate patient-centric communication techniques with elderly clients

8Assist with mobility with and without the use of mobility aids
9Perform basic patient assessment
10Assist with nutritional needs
11Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
12Assist with rehabilitative activities
13Work-based learning/Clinical Attachment


Your organisation can receive AIC funding for the following components as part of the Employment Facilitation (EF) programme:

a. Course Fee

Course fee funding will be provided for Community Care employers that send their new local support care staff for CCTP.

b. Training Allowance

Community Care employers can apply for funding support of $1,000 per month per newly recruited local support staff, during the period of CCTP, up to a maximum of four months.  The training allowance of $1,000 per month of training should be pro-rated on a weekly basis if necessary (e.g. the course duration is less than a month).

c. Retention Bonus

New local support care staffs to the Community Care sector will be eligible for the $3,000 retention bonus:

1. New local support care staff working at least 0.5 FTE* per month will receive $1,000 upon completion of the first 6 months of service with their community care employer, and the remaining $2,000 upon the completion of the first year of service with their community care employer (service period exclude training period).

2. New local support care staff working less than 0.5 FTE* per month will receive $500 upon completion of the first 6 months of service with their community care employer, and the remaining $1,000 upon the completion of the first year of service with their community care employer (service period exclude training period).

*1 FTE is computed on the basis of a 42-hour work week.


d. On-the-Job Training (OJT) Grant

The OJT support is for Community Care employers to ensure that new local staff are supported in their induction and training at workplace. In order for Community Care employers to be eligible for OJT support, the following criteria must be met:

1. The new staff must fulfil CCTP's eligibility criteria

2. The new staff must have undergone structured training programmes endorsed by AIC as qualifying CCTP programmes; and

3. The community care provider must have at least 1 to 3 trained supervisors (depending on the size of organisation) who are able to provide OJT to new staff
