The traditional care role relies upon a highly manual and time-consuming showering process, which requires 2 staff members at a time to assist with trolley showers.
Summary of observation findings:
- At least 92% of residents need assistance during showers
- 20% to 25% of residents require the use of a shower trolley
- Trolley showers take an average of 12 minutes per resident

The utilisation of an automated shower system can reduce these inefficiencies towards the Care staff and enhance senior experience.
The desired outcomes include:
- Reduced time taken for showers
- Reduced number of staff required during showers
- Enhanced senior experience (increased privacy)
An automated shower system was implemented independently by Ren Ci Community Hospital which revealed the following findings:
- Estimated 60% reduction in the overall time taken for showers
- Enhanced senior experience as they had more time for recreational activities
