The Community Care sector in Singapore helps seniors live well and age gracefully at home and in the community. Whether you are a fresh school leaver or a mid-career switcher, AIC offers various schemes and programmes that support the sector to develop you to your fullest potential.
Roles in the Sector
Organizations in the Community Care sector offer a diverse range of jobs in both clinical-related and non-clinical related roles.

Support care staff are responsible for attending to clients’ needs in their daily living activities, as well as performing basic patient care procedures accordingly to established protocols and standards of patient care and practices. They provide clinical, personal, therapy and psychosocial care, and are involved in planning and implementing the individual care plan to meet the desired well-being of their clients. Examples of support care staff include Community Care Associates, Healthcare Assistants, Basic Care Assistants, Nursing and Therapy Aides.
Administration and operations staff play a vital role in ensuring that processes and operations in the organisation run smoothly, and resources are managed efficiently. They may be involved in programmes development and implementation, or in functional areas ranging from Human Resource and Communications to Finance and Information Technology. While they do not provide direct care to clients, they ensure that the clinical staff have the relevant resources and support they need to do their job well.
Nurses play a pivotal role in the care of individuals of all ages to achieve optimal health outcomes. Community Care nurses focus on the promotion of health and wellness, prevention of illness, and care for clients outside of acute hospitals. Building on a philosophy characterised by person-centeredness, client and family empowerment, and care continuity, the care provided by Community Care nurses goes beyond medical treatment. It includes care in other aspects of a client’s life such as personal well-being and inculcating long-term health behaviours.

Allied Health Professionals are a distinct group of health professionals who use their expertise to care for their clients and prevent disease transmission, as well as diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate people of all ages. As experts in their respective fields of practice, Allied Health Professionals are an integral part of our healthcare system. They include occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, medical social worker, and dietitians, among others.

Bright Hill Evergreen Home Bright Hill Evergreen Home (BHEH) is a 248-bedded, accredited non-profit nursing home. BHEH believes that residents should enjoy life to the fullest encompassing gracious and healthy living and at the same time, minimising ill health and retaining maximum use of their physical and mental faculties. BHEH commenced the operations of a 188-bedded new Annex Building in April 2022, to continue providing holistic nursing and medical care to senior residents residing in the vicinity. |

Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) is a non-profit organisation in Singapore dedicated to meeting the needs of caregivers of persons with mental health issues through education, support networks, crisis support, tailored services and self-care enablement. While there are other organisations providing support to the community affected by mental health issues, only CAL focuses exclusively on supporting caregivers. |

Caregiving Welfare Association Caregiving Welfare Association was established in 2004 with the mission to improve the quality of life of seniors through dependable direct services, and to inculcate a generation of responsible and knowledgeable caregivers in an ageing population. Their services cover three core areas – Elderly Wellness & Social Support, Welfare Support and Education & Awareness. Through strategic partnerships and thrusts, it aims to make eldercare accessible to the elders in our community and to their caregivers. |

Care Corner Singapore Ltd. Founded in 1981, Care Corner Singapore is a non-profit organisation with the Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status. Woven into the fabric of the community, they work with community partners, donors and volunteers to uplift lives of the marginalised. Catholic Welfare Services (St Joseph’s Home) It is St Joseph’s Home (SJH) belief that life does not stop when one enters a nursing home and hospice. Home Nursing Foundation (HNF) Founded in 1976, Home Nursing Foundation provides home nursing, home medical, home therapy, home personal care and social welfare to patients in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. HNF Wellness Centres are integrated day care facilities that take care of seniors’ health and social needs. They deliver comprehensive care programmes that are dedicated to their patients, regardless of their income level. |

HCA Hospice Limited HCA’s core service, home hospice care, is provided at no charge to about 3,700 patients annually. Besides medical care for patients, this service also entails psychological support for patients and caregivers. A 24/7 hotline ensures help is available round the clock. |

Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens provides up to 584 beds for full residential care and is equipped with modern facilities for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of the elderly. It also provides respite care (short-term stay of minimum 7 days), subject to terms and conditions. |

Kidney Dialysis Foundation Limited Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF) is a non-profit charitable organisation that provides subsidised dialysis treatment to the needy population of Singapore so that these patients will not be deprived of treatment due to financial difficulties. Their mission is to look after the well-being of needy people stricken with end-stage kidney disease by nurturing hope and confidence to make their lives more meaningful and to support research that will help prevent, treat and cure kidney and kidney-related diseases. |

Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital Despite being a charitable organisation that is heavily dependent on public support and donations, they remain focused on providing quality care and services to their clients. |

Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home They serve over 110 residents at the Thomson branch and over 130 residents at the Silat branch. |

Ling Kwang Home For Senior Citizens Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens (LKHSC) is a non-profit organisation established in 1983. With a team of dedicated professionals, they provide residential nursing care, day care as well as Integrated Home and Day Care (IHDC) services to vulnerable elderly living in the community. LKHSC hopes to create a sanctuary for the ‘Ah Gongs’ and ‘Ah Mas’ to live out their golden years in a comfortable and conducive “Home Away from Home” environment. |

Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore) Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore) [LBSA] is a Social Service Organisation registered with the National Council of Social Service. They were founded in 1995 by the Lions Clubs of Singapore and a Lions District Project.LBSA has a long history in caring for and assisting seniors to cope with the demands of daily living, helping them to be engaged in the community and to enjoy active silver years with dignity and grace. |

Man Fut Tong Nursing Home Man Fut Tong Nursing Home is a 232-bedded facility which is committed to provide a high standard of holistic care for the individual, regardless of race, religion and social morbidity. Their highly dedicated team of experienced staff provide 24 hours of quality nursing care to enable the residents to live their golden years with respect and dignity. Families’ involvement in the management and care of residents is promoted and encouraged. Methodist Welfare Services Methodist Welfare Services has been serving the disadvantaged and distressed regardless of race, or religion since 1981. The Salvation Army – Peacehaven Nursing Home With a capacity of around 400 beds, Peacehaven Nursing Home provides compassionate, individualized, holistic care to all without discrimination. They offer a comprehensive gamut of services to care for the sick, frail and elderly who have physical or mental disabilities with minimal or no appropriate caregiver support at home. The Home has 14 separate Resident Living Areas (RLAs), each designed as an individual home-like environment. |
