Introduction to Equipment Rental Scheme (ERS)
The Equipment Rental Scheme provides eligible patients with underlying life-limiting condition(s) with affordable and timely access to subsidised rental equipment to support their care at home.
Types of coverage under ERS
The subsidies provided by ERS cover weekly rental fee, two-way transport cost, and selected essential consumables to support the use of the equipment listed below:
- Commode
- Hospital Bed
- Oxygen Concentrator
- Pressure Relief Mattress
- Wheelchair or Pushchair
How to Qualify
To qualify for ERS, patients with underlying life-limiting condition(s) will need to meet the following criteria:
Nationality
Must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Means-Test
Means-tested subsidies given based on your household monthly income per person or Annual Value (AV) of residence reflected on NRIC for household with no income under the palliative care subsidy framework.
Health Status
Assessed to have a life-limiting condition with a prognosis of less than 1 year.
Needs Assessment
Assessed by a qualified assessor on the type(s) of equipment required.
Self-declaration
You must not be receiving subsidies for the same or similar equipment through other Government assistance schemes.
If you had received Government assistance schemes for same or similar type of equipment prior to ERS application, eligibility to rent equipment(s) under ERS will be assessed on a case by case basis.
How to Apply
You may approach the public or community hospitals, home hospice provider or national specialty centres that your loved one is receiving care from, to assist with ERS application and to place rental equipment orders with suppliers.

Who can apply for Equipment Rental Scheme (ERS)
Patients with underlying life-limiting condition(s) who meet the eligibility criteria may approach their care providers to assist with ERS application.
Who can I approach if I require support services for the rented equipment?
You or your loved ones may contact supplier(s) for support services (e.g. phone and/or video-call) to resolve issues faced. In some cases, supplier(s) may be onsite at your loved ones’ residence to repair or exchange equipment during suppliers’ operational hours. Please note that the operational hours differ across different suppliers.
Applicants will be able to find suppliers’ contact information and support hours on the asset tags of the rented equipment. You may also find the support hours of suppliers here.

If my loved one is currently NOT under the care of any public hospital or home palliative care provider, how can my loved one apply and place equipment rental orders under ERS?
Your loved one can be referred to a home hospice provider via referral from a registered doctor. Alternatively, you may reach out to Singapore Hospice Council (SHC) during office hours via telephone (6538 2231) and email (info@singaporehospice.org.sg).
